Before starting the bootcamp

In this very short blog, I am going to describe about my experience when I started my bootcamp journey at Flatiron. Bootcamp schools are generally expensive and require an upfront investment. If you are already familiar with student debt, as I do, is that you do want to make the most out of this journey probably million times more than what you have put into during your college years.

In my idea, if you want to stay local where you live, it would be wise to look at your local market and research on what technologies are being used within this market. Not only you can narrow down your research on schools that provide training in these technologies no matter how reputable the school would be, but also you have an ability to find networking with recruiters and school career partners more effectively to gauge you toward the career that you get trained on.

But before you EVEN, commit your time to apply for bootcamp, try to learn those skills online from many sources. Udemy, Coursera, Udacity, and more have tons of affordable classes you can take to at least familiarize yourself with it. I heard stories that many people did not attend bootcamp, learnt these classes online, and being able to find jobs within their local market.

If you feel that you need more enforcement and thinking it would be your last resort, then do the steps already mentioned, and try to build projects and deploy them on your portfolio website. Another thing that I believe you should focus on after you have completed your learning, whether online or through bootcamp, is to master many common algorithms, data structures, and design patterns. I see almost all the technical assessments companies sending out to job candidate require you to know the fundamentals of these topics.

With that being said, I wish you a great journey in learning. Learning how to solve problems, and how to build things.
