Adjacent software engineering roles
As speaking, I has sent myself applying for purely software engineering jobs and never thought of other roles related to this field. I am traditionally coming from different industry and career path, and has always wanted to set my foot into flourishing tech industry. It is at times very daunting to make this a reality with minimal industry experience to be able to secure a tech job; however, the tech industry is not limited to just developing software.
In this article, I will be listing titles that many people from other industries can get into tech industry with less stringent requirements, and later pivot into the software development world once you set your foot inside:
- Quality Assurance or Test Engineer:
- Business Analyst
- Project Manager
- Product Manager
- No or low-code developer
- Sales Engineer
- Technical Recruiter
- Technical Support
- Technical Writer
- Teacher
There are more titles out there that is not listed on this article which I intend to fill out and give more detailed descriptions of what they are about and how to get into these type of roles.
